In a meeting with the owner, marina manager Dock Master Jerry Blakeslee was assured that all operations of the Resort would continue and that significant improvements would be made to the infrastructure including the marina facility. Specifically the marina docks would be repaired/replaced as necessary, new electrical and cable TV boxes installed, additional dockside lighting installed and grounds maintenance would be improved and low areas in front of the docks dredged. Additionally, new tables and chairs, enough to accommodate at least 60 people for dockside activities, including the Saturday BBQ, would be purchased.
Although there are other marinas on the island of Roatan, Honduras, over the last year or so Fantasy Island Marina has become the cruisers favorite, due in part to it's great location amidst the best shopping/provisioning/marine services area of the island. Enhancing it's appeal is the fact that guest of the marina have full use of the facility, including fresh water pool, pool towels, tennis courts, beach chairs, kayaks, Lobby Bar, wifi and pool tables, all free of charge. Meals at a discounted price and scuba diving and equipment rentals are discounted by 20%. All of these services are available to those cruisers anchored out for just a small fee. A final aspect to the resorts popularity with cruisers is the myriad activities hosted by the marina, including Saturday BBQ's and Happy Hours, weekly dining out, Thursday pizza and happy hour and most recently Rubber Ducky Races. Cruiser's have all these activities and more to look forward in the coming season in the newly improved facility. Fantasy Island Marina, Jerry Blakeslee, is the Cruising Station Host for the Seven Seas Cruising Association.
